Volleyball Sweeps Weekend at Rhodes Invitational

Memphis, Tenn. - After defeating Webster 3-1 on Friday night to kick off the Rhodes Invitational, Hendrix capitalized on their great start to take out Rhodes and Lyon the next day to finish 3-0 on the weekend.

Rhodes (W, 3-1)
Hendrix took the opening two sets over their former conference rival and were able to prevent the match from going to five sets after Rhodes took the third set. After Hendrix took the first set 25-17, both teams traded points in an intense, back-and-forth set. Rhodes looked to be in pole position leading 23-22 late, but the Warriors were able to rattle off three consecutive points courtesy of a couple attacking errors and an Ana Bastos kill.

With the match at 2-1, Rhodes led 17-16 in the fourth set, trying to take the match to a fifth and final set. But the Warriors flipped the set on its head entirely with seven consecutive points, three of which were scored by Camryn Kennedy. The six-point lead gave Hendrix enough cushion to see out the match, with Bastos and Kennedy putting the final nails in the coffin.

Riley Brady led the Warriors with 14 kills. Bastos and Kennedy both reached double-figures as well with 12 and 11, respectively. Mary Addisyn Stubbs contributed three service aces to the winning effort.

Hendrix hit 0.269 as a team, while Brady hit a whopping 0.440. Mariana Leite was also clinical on offense, tallying 8 kills on 17 swings.

Defensively, Perri Evans and Hailey combined for 8 blocks with 4 apiece, while Adilynn Henry and Faith Jones combined for 39 digs.

Lyon (W, 3-2)
Lyon became the first team to win two sets off of Hendrix this season and looked set to get revenge for their loss last weekend to the Warriors in Conway, but Hendrix rallied to take the final two sets to keep their unbeaten streak going.

Riley Brady led all participants with 16 kills and 17.5 points to lead a well-balanced attack. Bastos had 14 kills while Leite tallied 13. Kennedy and Gripka each had 8 kills, while Layla Somoska tallied an early career-high 7 kills. Lily Meyer contributed 3 service aces.

Adilynn Henry led all participants with 33 assists, with Meyer assisting 29 points.
