Seguin, Texas - Hendrix suffered its first loss in league play on Sunday afternoon in an 89-56 defeat to Texas Lutheran at Memorial Gymnasium.
Riley Brady led the Warriors with 15 points and 11 boards for her fourth-consecutive double-double and eighth in her first nine games of the season.
Hendrix had won six straight and were undefeated in the SCAC heading into Saturday evening but ran into a tough Bulldog squad who were receiving votes in the latest top 25 poll and looked the part. TLU shot a blistering 59.0% from the field and connected on 14 of their 27 (51.9%) three-point attempts. The Warriors, on the other hand shot 37.0% from the field and a respectable 40.0% (10-for-25) from behind the arc, but 18 turnovers really stunted Hendrix's offensive momentum.
Megan Manuel finished the evening with 9 points off the bench after knocking down three triples.
Bella Cates recorded 8 points and four rebounds.
Natalie Edmonson's three-ball with 1:42 left in the first quarter cut TLU's lead to one with the score at 15-14. Hendrix had several opportunities to take the lead before the quarter ended but were unable to convert. The Bulldogs owned the second quarter, out-scoring Hendrix 22-7 to take a 16-point lead into halftime. It was similar story in the third and fourth quarters, as TLU scored 25+ points in each of the final two frames.
Hendrix falls to 7-5 and 3-1 in the SCAC. They now return home to host Colorado College on Friday evening for an 8:00 PM tip at Grove Gymnasium.
