Women's Soccer Draws Ozarks in Friday Night Contest

CLARKSVILLE - Hendrix played Ozarks to a 1-1 draw on Friday night in Clarksville to make it four-consecutive draws to start league play.

The Warriors (1-5-5, 0-0-4 SCAC finished with a 14-9 shot advantage, including 10 shots on goal, while holding Ozarks to four shots on goal. The 10 shots on goal were a season high for Hendrix, and the Warriors have totaled at least 14 shots in three consecutive games.

Lauren Humiston scored her first goal of the season and led the Warriors with five shots, including four on goal. Her five shots and four shots on goal were both season highs. Kaylee Fluger recorded her first assist of the season and put her lone shot on frame. Chloe Peters added four shots, with two on goal.

Kennedy Lewis played all 90 minutes in goal and made three saves.

The Warriors turned early pressure into the first goal when Humiston scored off Kaylee Fluger's assist just under 10 minutes into the match. Fluger gained possession outside of the box and then played a ball to the back post, where Humiston was on hand to tap it home for the go-ahead goal. Ozarks answered in the 25th minute to level the score. Lewis made two saves in the half, including one during Ozarks' late push, to preserve the tie going into halftime.

The Warriors pushed through the second half without breaking the 1-1 tie, putting six shots on goal. Lewis made a save in the 53rd minute as the Warriors weathered an early Ozarks spell. Peters, Humiston, Fluger and Rosalie Allen all generated second-half chances for the Warriors, but Hendrix was unable to find a late winner.

The Warriors are 1-5-5 overall and 0-0-4 in conference play. They will get a break from SCAC action as they host Champion Christian next Tuesday evening at Warrior Soccer Field.
