Volleyball Rallies to Sweep Final Day of Seguin Crossover

SEGUIN, Texas - After a 3-0 sweep to Texas Lutheran on Friday night, Hendrix responded on Saturday by picking up wins over the University of St. Thomas (TX) and Concordia Texas to end the weekend on a high note. The Warriors came back from two sets down to take down St. Thomas in five sets to open the afternoon, then capped off the night with a 3-0 sweep of the Tornados.

St. Thomas (W, 3-2)
Hendrix defeated St. Thomas (TX) 3-2 (20-25, 20-25, 25-12, 25-18, 15-8) in a five-set thriller on a Saturday afternoon. After dropping the first two sets, the Warriors won the final three, finishing with 12 kills and a .379 hitting percentage in the winner-take-all final set.

The Warriors built a 9-4 lead in the first set behind early kills from Riley Brady, Ana Bastos and Ava Burns, but St. Thomas answered with 12 straight points to go in front 16-9. The Warriors got back within 20-16 on kills by Brady and Reghan Frazzetta during a late push, but St. Thomas closed the set 25-20.

The Warriors led 10-7 after a Bastos kill, but St. Thomas scored the next seven points, including three service aces by Jada Stallworth, to move ahead 14-10. The Warriors kept answering with kills from Camryn Kennedy, Addison Rud, Brady, Bastos and Burns, plus aces by Mary Addisyn Stubbs and Emma Blancovich, but St. Thomastook the second set 25-20.

The Warriors closed the third set by winning seven of the final eight rallies to take it 25-12. Chloe Staggs served the last four points, including an ace, before Kennedy and Brady finished the set with kills. Earlier, the Warriors recovered from a 5-3 deficit and moved in front 8-6 on a Brady block.

The Warriors erased a 14-12 deficit with eight straight points, moving ahead 20-14 as Mary Addisyn Stubbs served through seven straight service points. Bastos and Brady each had kills during that stretch, and Brady and Bastos combined on a block before the Warriors finished the set 25-18.

The Warriors broke open the fifth set after an 8-6 lead, getting two consecutive kills from Brady, then kills from Kennedy and Frazzetta to move ahead 12-6. Rud followed later with a kill, and Bastos finished the set with a kill from Frazzetta for a 15-8 Warriors win.

Brady led the Warriors with 19 kills, 24.5 points and seven blocks while hitting .529 and adding 17 digs. Bastos finished with 17 kills, two aces, two blocks and 20 points. Mary Addisyn Stubbs recorded 27 digs and added three service aces. Frazzetta posted 25 assists, eight digs and two kills.

Concordia Texas (W, 3-0)
Hendrix wasted no time with Concordia in Saturday's nightcap, sweeping the Tornados in straight sets to finish the weekend 2-1. The Warriors totaled 41 kills and hit .229 while holding Concordia (TX) to 27 kills and a .065 hitting percentage.

The Warriors overcame an early 5-3 deficit in the first set and moved in front 8-6 behind a Riley Brady ace, an Ana Bastos kill and an Emma Blancovich ace during the response. The Warriors added separation late with four straight points on Brady's serve, including Bastos kill, to reach 22-11. Hendrix would close out the first set 25-13.

The Warriors created separation in the second set with six straight points, including five consecutive service points from Chloe Staggs, to build a 12-5 lead. Camryn Kennedy had two kills during that stretch, and Blancovich added a kill from Staggs. Concordia (TX) got back within 20-16 later, but the Warriors finished the set 25-20 on an Ava Burns kill from Reghan Frazzetta.

After the set was tied 17-17, the Warriors scored seven straight points to move to 24-17. Brady served the final six points of that stretch, including back-to-back aces, and Burns closed the 25-18 set win with a kill from Frazzetta.

Brady led the Warriors with 15.0 points, recording nine kills, three service aces, three solo blocks and 14 digs. Kennedy finished with a team-high 10 kills while hitting .333. Mary Addisyn Stubbs led the defense with 15 digs and added three assists. Frazzetta tallied a team-best 19 assists and collected 10 digs.

The wins improve Hendrix to 9-5 (4-1 SCAC). They will get a week off before returning home to host top-25 East Texas Baptist in a midweek nonconference bout on Tuesday, October 13.
