KERRVILLE, Texas - Hendrix capped off its latest road trip to Texas with a 99-69 loss to Schreiner on Sunday afternoon at Stephens Family Arena.
Despite the 30-point loss, the afternoon wasn't without promise, as
Caleb Squires went off for a career-high 29 points off the bench to lead all scorers. It was Squires' first game in double-figures this season after missing a majority of the year due to injury. The senior shot lights out from deep, hitting on 7 of his 10 three-point attempts and finishing 10-of-13 from the field.
Kyle Roach and
Holden Plant both joined Squires in double-figures with 13 points and 10 points, respectively. The two also contributed on the defensive end, as Plant recorded 3 blocks and Roach tallied 3 steals.
Hendrix never led on the afternoon and ran into a formidable Mountaineer offense that shot 38.2% from deep and 47.4% from the field. Schreiner also outscored Hendrix 38-20 in the paint and dominated on the glass, winning the rebounding battle 50-34 and punishing the Warriors with 21 second-chance points.
The Warriors will now return home to host Centenary and LeTourneau next weekend at Grove Gymnasium. Tip-off against Centenary will be on Friday evening at 6:00 PM.
