WBB | Warriors Hang On for Tough Road Win at Schreiner

KERRVILLE, Texas - Hendrix picked up its fourth road conference win on Sunday afternoon with a 72-63 win over the Schreiner Mountaineers.

Riley Brady led all scorers with 26 points and 13 rebounds after posting a 28-20 double-double on Friday versus McMurry. The junior finished 7-of-15 from the field and went 12-of-13 from the line and also dished out 3 assists while also contributing 3 steals on the defensive end.

Chloey-Rei Brown came up clutch late en route to a 17-point outing. The freshman scored the final five points for the Warriors (10-8, 6-4 SCAC) to help put the game to bed. Brailey Forst also finished in double-figures with 13 points and grabbed 6 rebounds to go along with 3 steals.

Brady, Brown, and Forst combined to score Hendrix's first 9 points of the afternoon, and Bella Cates went 2-for-2 from the stripe to give the Warriors an early 11-5 lead in the first quarter. Lyndi Bryan's three-pointer with 0:35 remaining in the frame made it 21-13, and two Brady foul shots gave Hendrix a 23-15 going into the second period. The Warriors' defense limited Schreiner )3-16, 2-8 SCAC) to just 7 points in the second, and Natalie Edmonson opened the frame with a long-ball to put Hendrix up by 11, but the visitors struggled to keep the same pace offensively as they did in the first. Carter Crane's layup at the 1:35 mark put the Warriors up 12, and Brown went 1-for-2 from the line late to give her side a 35-22 lead going into halftime.

The Mountaineers outscored Hendrix 19-15 in the third quarter to trim the lead down to 9 heading into the final quarter, and the hosts got to as close as seven in the fourth. But the Warriors hit timely shots down the stretch to keep Schreiner a couple paces behind courtesy of Brown, Cates, and Crane.

After back-to-back weeks on the road, Hendrix will return to Conway to host Centenary and LeTourneau next weekend at Grove Gymnasium. Tip-off against Centenary will be on Friday at approximately 8:00 PM.
