WBB | Hendrix Secures Season Sweep Over LeTourneau

LONGVIEW, Texas - Hendrix has rattled off five-consecutive wins to improve to 10-4 in the SCAC after a 69-55 win over LeTourneau on Saturday evening at Solheim Arena.

Wes Sullivan's squad left nothing to chance on Saturday, dispatching of the same YellowJackets who took Hendrix to overtime last weekend in Conway before the Warriors rallied to win 74-69 in a thriller.

LeTourneau scored the first four points of the evening, prompting an early timeout by the visitors. Coming out of the timeout, Hendrix scored the next 11 points. After Riley Brady and Brailey Forst combined for the first six points of the run, Natalie Edmonson hit a transition three to put Hendrix up 9-4, and Forst's fastbreak layup off a YellowJacket turnover gave Hendrix an 11-4 lead.

The Warriors' lead got up to eight near the end of the first half as two free throws from Brady gave Hendrix a 29-21 lead, but LeTourneau went on a 4-1 run to close the half and bring the deficit down to five heading into the interval.

Hendrix roared out of the gates in the second half, with Brady laying up for two and Edmonson then draining another triple to put the Warriors up by 10. Chloey-Rei Brown pushed the lead up to 12 at the 3:38 mark, and Hendrix looked to be taking a 12-point lead into the final period until LeTourneau got back on the board with just over ten seconds remaining in the third. The YellowJackets cut the lead to six with 6: 21 remaining in the contest, but a 13-0 run by Hendrix, capped off by two Brown triples, gave the visitors a 19-point advantage to put the game on ice.

Brown scored a game-high 21 points and was one assist away from a double-double, while Brady recorded yet another double-double with 19 points and 16 rebounds. Brailey Forst added 11 crucial boards, while Bella Cates added 8 points, her highest point total since January 10.

The Warriors shot 35.9% from the field and 28.6% from behind the arc but took it inside to LeTourneau, out-scoring them 32-22 in the paint. Hendrix's defense proved to be the difference on the evening, turning LeTourneau over 20 times and capitalizing with 26 points points off those turnovers.

Hendrix (13-8, 10-4 SCAC) has now won 10 league contests for the first time since 2015-16 when the Warriors were in the Southern Athletic Association. They will return home to close out the regular season next weekend with contests versus Austin College and the University of Dallas. Tip-off against the 'Roos will be at approximately 8:00 PM on Friday evening with an outright lead in the SCAC blue division on the line.
