Conway, Ark. - The Hendrix men's basketball program wrapped up the 2025-26 season with back-to-back home losses to Austin College and the University of Dallas.
Austin College (L, 89-63)
Hendrix was no match for the visiting 'Roos on Friday evening, despite starting the game on an 11-0 run.
Kyle Roach kicked off the evening with a triple, and a couple defensive stops for the home team turned into fast-break opportunities, with the Warriors taking an early double-digit lead before anyone could bat an eye. That lead quickly dissolved as Austin College scored 8 unanswered points before another Roach three-ball put a stop to the bleeding.
The 'Roos tied the game at 14-14 at the 13:27 mark, and then took their first lead of the contest a couple minutes later on a long ball. Hendrix answered back with a
Jaxon Herrera three-ball, and
Caleb Squires' transition jumper on the next possession returned the lead to the hosts. From that point, Austin College took over, as they out-scored Hendrix 19-7 down the stretch to take a 36-25 lead into halftime.
It was a second-half explosion that definitely gave the game to the visitors, with the 'Roos scoring 53 points in the final twenty minutes. Hendrix answered with 38 points over that duration, but Austin College's proficiency from deep proved to be too much for Hendrix to overcome.
The Warriors shot just 24.1% from behind the arc and finished 35.4% from the field. They were out-scored 44-27 in the paint, and the 'Roos capitalized on 16 Hendrix turnovers with 27 points.
University of Dallas (L, 65-51)
The Warriors celebrated their two seniors,
Caleb Squires and
Colin Wade, in their regular season finale and hung tough with the visiting Crusaders before ultimately giving way in the end.
While Hendrix celebrated Senior Day, it was the freshman
Holden Plant who had a huge day offensively as he went off for a career-high 27 points in the loss. The freshman also added 8 rebounds. Squires finished in double-figures as well, scoring 10 points with a pair of triples in his final game.
Hendrix once again had a poor day shooting from distance, knocking down just 5-of-21 three-pointers. Two of those were from Squires, who nailed a triple two minutes into the contest for the game's first basket and to give Hendrix its first and only lead of the night. Dallas responded with 24 of the next 26 points, taking a 24-5 lead into the second media timeout of the first half. Hendrix then responded with a 16-7 run that took the Crusader lead down to 10, but Dallas scored the final six points of the half to take a 37-21 lead into halftime.
The lead for Dallas got up to 27 early in the second half, but Hendrix battled back to make the affair interesting with Plant's jumper at the 2:50 mark cutting the lead to 12 at 61-49. However, the Warriors were unable to continue that forward momentum down the stretch. Squires capped off the night with a jumper that put him in double-figures and proved to be the final bucked of the night.
Hendrix shots just over 24% from distance and were 30.9% from the field. scoring 16 points in the paint and got 20 points off of second-chance opportunities.
The Warriors end the year 1-24 and 1-15 in conference play in their first year back in the SCAC.
