Conway, Ark. - After Hendrix's loss to Austin College on Friday evening, the Warriors' hopes of an outright SCAC Blue Division regular season title and #1 seeding went out the window. But after a dominant 74-47 win over Dallas on Saturday and an unexpected Austin College loss to the University of the Ozarks, Hendrix ended the regular season with a share of the Blue Division crown and will enter next week's SCAC tournament in Conway as co-champions.
The win earned the Warriors their first regular season division championship since the 2010-11 season, when Hendrix split the regular season crown with DePauw.
Junior
Riley Brady rewrote the record books once again in the win, scoring her 1000th career point in a 15-point, 14-rebound performance while also setting a new single-season SCAC rebound record that was previously at 375 by Colorado College's Zoe Tomlinson.
The Warriors also celebrated their four seniors on Senior Day --
Bella Cates,
Carter Crane,
Olivia Kestner, and
Abby Sutton. All four scored points on Saturday, with Cates tallying 11 points after going 3-for-5 from deep.
Brady led all scorers with 15 points and also added four steals on the defensive end..
Natalie Edmonson added 12 points and only missed one of her five three-point attempts.
Brailey Forst turned in an efficient 11-point, 4-rebound performance.
As a team, the Warriors shot 40.0% from behind the arc, with Cates and Edmonson combining for seven of their eight made three-pointers. Hendrix also finished 44.4% from the field while limiting the Crusaders offensively by causing 19 turnovers.
Hendrix now has its sights set on postseason play. They will welcome the 3-seed out of the Gold Division in the first SCAC women's quarterfinal on Friday at 5:00 PM at Grove Gymnasium. All tournament games can be streamed on flocollege.com.
