KERRVILLE, Texas - After Hendrix split Friday's doubleheader versus Schreiner, the Warriors responded to take the rubber match in comeback fashion and claim their third-consecutive conference series.
Game 1 (W, 4-1)
Hendrix breezed to a 4-1 win, scoring the first four runs of the game while
Rowan Glover and
Aiden Leggett combined the hold the hosts scoreless through the 6.1 innings.
The Warriors drew first blood with some two-out damage in the third inning as
Shaun Pope scored the opening run on a fielding error by Schreiner.
Charlie Deaton singled in
Aaron Gonzales on a one-out hit to left field, and Deaton was then brought around on a two-out single from
Austin Rabago. Hendrix added an insurance run in the visitor seventh with a two-out triple from
Chase Harris to score
Zane Nolan and make it a 4-0 game.
Glover (W, 2-1) earned his second winning decision with 5.1 shutout innings, scattering three hits across his outing. Leggett (S, 2) was electric out of the pen, earning his second three-inning save out of the bullpen, allowing just one run while striking out five hitters. Leggett faced just two Mountaineer batters above the minimum.
Hendrix outhit Schreinr 11-5, with Rabago,
Ryan Lang, Dodson, and Harris all recording a multi-hit game.
Game 2 (L, 6-1)
The second game of Friday's doubleheader was a complete reversal of the first half, as Schreiner dominated Hendrix from the outset and did not allow the Warriors on the board until the visitor ninth.
The Mountaineers jumped on top with a two-spot in the home second and plated two more across the fourth and fifth innings before adding two more in the eighth.
Nick Echaniz's two-out single in the ninth scored
Bryson Claiborne for Hendrix's lone run.
Dylan Kalmus (L, 1-1) struck out five in his 7.0 IP outing.
Game 3 (W, 4-3)
Hendrix opened the scoring in Saturday's rubber match as
Mike Massa scored
Ryne Dodson on an RBI ground-out after Dodson led off the inning with a single. The Mountaineers leveled the game at 1-1 with a two-out single, then scored two in the third inning to go up 3-1.
Mason Holmes entered in relief of
Kyle Taylor in the fourth inning and spun 4.0 shutout innings, scattering three hits.
After the visitor second, Hendrix went scoreless until the seventh and finally got back on the board.
Ryan Lang led off the inning with a walk and was then ran for by Claiborne. Claiborne stole second and then reached third during a Dodson at-bat, then scored on a wild pitch. Nolan represented the tying run in the inning and reached third base before
Reed Ketcham's at-bat with two outs, but was thrown out at home after trying to steal home.
Hendrix finally brought the tying run in the visitor eighth inning as Ketcham led off with a double to left.
Chase Harris then singled in Ketcham to tie the game at 3-3, and then scored from second as
Josh Sutrina singled him in for the go-ahead run.
From there, the game turned over to the
Cole Joyner on the bump, who entered in the home eighth and worked around a one-out double to retire the side. Joyner then put the Mountaineers down 1-2-3 in the ninth to secure the win and the series victory.
Rabago continued his excellent start to the 2026 season with a perfect 3-for-3 day at the plate and a walk. The senior is now hitting .488 through Hendrix's first 19 games.
