MLAX | Hendrix Falls to Piedmont in Georgia

DEMOREST, Ga. - Hendrix dropped to 1-6 on the regular season with a 19-9 road loss to Piedmont in Georgia.

Zachary Cox led the Warriors with six points on five goals and one assits.

The match went scoreless for the opening five minutes before Cox assisted Bennett Davidson to break the deadlock. The dam then broke as the hosts proceeded to score five unanswered goals over the subsequent three minutes to take a 5-1 lead. The bleeding was stopped when Cox received an assist from Joey Davis to put Hendrix back on the board. Piedmont added one more before the first-quarter clock expired to take a 6-2 advantage into the second frame.

Davidson was back on the mark midway through the second quarter and Cox added netted his second with just over a minute remaining in the half to trim the lead to six with the score at 10-4.

Hendrix scored five goals in the second half but were unable to keep the pace with Piedmont down the stretch as the hosts roared to a 15-6 lead by the start of the fourth quarter and never looked back.

Davis ended the evening with four points on one goal and three assists.

Cooper Littleton made 17 saves over his sixty minutes in the cage.

Defensively, Nick Pesce and Joshua Cantu both caused two turnovers with Ethan Miller and Dominic Vinnola combining for eleven ground-balls. Miller served as the primary face-off man, going 6-for-21 on faceoffs.

Hendrix (1-6, 0-1 SCAC) will remain in Georgia to resume conference play on Saturday as they head to Atlanta to take on Oglethorpe.
