MLAX | Hendrix Grabs First Conference Win at Oglethorpe

ATLANTA - Hendrix got back to winning ways on Saturday afternoon with a 17-8 win over Oglethorpe to put the Warriors in the win column in league play.

Austin Williams and Ethan Miller contributed to the strong offensive output with six points apiece. Williams scored a game-high six goals while Miller dished out three assists to go along with his three goals.

The Stormy Petrels went up 2-0 right after the halfway point of the first quarter before Miller put Hendrix on the board with an unassisted effort at the five-minute mark. Oglethorpe restored their two-goal advantage a minute later, Miller once again scored unassisted to trim the lead to one.

Williams tied the game early in the second quarter with an assist from Bennett Davidson before Matthew Parsons gave Hendrix its first lead of the afternoon. Parsons was back at it again two minutes later after taking advantage of an extra-man opportunity, and Williams added another not long after to give Hendrix a 6-3 advantage.

Oglethorpe scored two goals on both sides of the halftime break to make it a 6-5 game, but a 4-0 run with goals from Zachary Cox, Joey Davis, Parsons, and Williams put Hendrix up 10-5. Those four instigated another four-goal run to put the game beyond doubt. Williams and Davidson netted the final three goals of the game for insurance.

Cooper Littleton earned his second winning decision in the cage and made eight saves while allowing a season-low eight goals.

Miller went 14-for-19 on face-offs and led the Warriors defensively with ten ground-balls, and Dominic Vinnola recorded a game-high three caused turnovers.
