Shreveport, La. - Hendrix dropped the 2026 regular season opener to Centenary in a 21-11 decision.
Both teams were deadlocked at 5-5 after one quarter of play, but the Gents rolled through the final three frames to win by double-figures.
Zachary Cox got the scoring started under a minute into Saturday's contest with an assist from
Bennett Davidson. After Centenary scored back-to-back goals over the next four minutes, Davidson was once again on the scene, this time assisting
Austin Williams for the tying goal. The Warriors went on a 3-0 run starting at the midpoint in the first quarter with goals from Williams,
Nicholas Smith, and a man-up goal from Cox. Centenary closed the quarter with back-to-back goals, with the tying goal coming with 00:06 remaining on the clock.
Williams broke the tie midway through the second quarter, but the Gents rattled off three unanswered goals to end the half to take an 8-6 lead into halftime.
Centenary owned the third quarter, outscoring Hendrix 8-2, including a back-breaking 7-0 run to end the period. Williams cut the lead to 7 early in the fourth, but the Gents' offense continued to apply pressure down the stretch and never allowed the Warriors to mount a comeback.
Williams led Hendrix with five goals, while Cox and Smith each added two. Davidson contributed three assists along with a goal.
Cooper Littleton (L, 0-1) made 16 saves in his collegiate debut.
Kellan Harger added a save in relief of Littleton.
