SB | Warriors Salvage Final Game in Centenary Series

Shreveport, La. - Hendrix was able to end their series with Centenary on a high note with a 7-4 win on Friday afternoon after dropping both games of their doubleheader on Thursday.

Game 1 (L, 4-3)
The Warriors suffered heartbreak in Game 1 as Centenary plated three runs in the 7th inning to come back and walk off in the series opener.

After the Ladies struck first in the bottom of the first, the game went scoreless until the Hendrix fourth when Tori Maldonado singled in Rylee Harris for the tying run. Emma Salis (L, 1-5) pitched a 1-2-3 inning in the home fourth and fifth, and got a bump from her offense in the Warrior fifth with a one-out Rylee Harris double to score Bell Jaramillo and Emerson Naismith for the go-ahead runs. Salis worked around back-to-back hits to lead off the Centenary sixth to retire the side in another scoreless frame.

The Ladies tied the game in the home seventh with an RBI single and a sacrifice fly, then walked it off in the next at-bat with another RBI single.

Harris, Maldonado, and Kaycee Schoen led the Warriors with two hits each, with both of Harris' hits being for extra bases.

Game 2 (L, 6-2)
Hendrix drew first blood in Game 2 as Harris brought in Jaramillo on an RBI ground-out. The Warriors would not score again until the fifth, while Centenary plated two in the second and one in the fourth to take a 3-1 lead. Naismith's two-out infield single brought in Julia Hayes, who had run for Austynn Caudle after Caudle reached first on a lead-off single. The Ladies scored two more in the fifth to up their lead to two and added one more in the sixth to make it a 6-2 game.

Caudle was the lone Warrior to record a multi-hit game in Game 2, while Harris and Naismith added an RBI each.

Sadie Lewis (L, 0-1) was the pitcher of record, while Emmaline Trosclair recorded three strikeouts in 2.2 IP of relief work.

Game 3 (W, 7-4)
Centenary scored two runs in the home first to take an early 2-0 lead. Trosclair led off the Warrior second with a double but was later taken off the base path on an Emerson Naismith fielder's choice. With Naismith at first and Peyton Frady in scoring position, Harris tacked on another RBI to her season total with a single up the middle to bring in Frady. Hendrix then loaded the bases with a Schoen single, but left them loaded after Oakley Cotropia popped up to end the inning.

The Ladies plated anothe run in the home second, but Hendrix got back to work in the visitor third. Bell Jaramillo led off the inning with a walk, and Caudle reached base with a hit-by-pitch to set the table for Trosclair, who singled to right center to bring in Jaramillo. With two outs, Rylee Harris worked a bases-loaded walk to score the tying run, but Hendrix once again left the bases loaded and were unable to to score the go-ahead run.

Emma Salis (W, 2-5) worked around three runs over the first two innings to pitch 3.2 scoreless frames and keep the Ladies off the board until the final inning.

The go-ahead run came in the visitor sixth when Harris got into scoring position with a one-out double before being brought in by a Kaycee Schoen RBI single. Hendrix added three insurance runs in the top of the seventh, all coming with two outs. Trosclair doubled to left center and was then scored by Peyton Frady. Frady then scored on an Alyssa Sornia double, and the merry-go-round continued as Naismith scored Sornia with an RBI single.

Centenary plated one run in the home seventh after the first two batters were retired and brought the tying run to the plate, but Trosclair, who had entered in relief of Salis in the sixth, was able to instigate a ground-out to retire the side and pick up her first save of the season.

Up Next: Hendrix (3-10, 1-8 SCAC) will return home to host Millsaps for a mid-week non-conference doubleheader in preparation for their home weekend series versus Schreiner.
