EGUIN, Texas - Hendrix dropped its three-game series to fifth-ranked Texas Lutheran over the weekend. The league leaders did not allow a run from the Warriors over the 16 innings played on Friday and Saturday.
In the series opener,
Emerson Naismith led the Warriors with a 2-for-3 day at the plate on a couple singles. It was the lone multi-hit game of the series for a Hendrix batter.
In the second half of Friday's doubleheader,
Oakley Cotropia reached base twice with a single and walk. Naismith,
Ella Boling, and
Emmaline Trosclair also recorded hits.
The highlight for the Warrior pitching staff came in Saturday's Game 3 when
Sadie Lewis punched out three hitters in her 1.1 innings of relief work. At the plate, the Warriors were one-hit in the five-inning affair, with
Rylee Harris breaking up the no-hitter in the top of the second.
The three losses drop Hendrix to 10-20 and 7-17 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference. They will take on Rhodes in a midweek doubleheader in Memphis before returning home to host LeTourneau for a three-game set at Warrior Softball Field. The Warriors currently sit in 10th in the conference standings heading down the home stretch, with the league's top six regular season finishers qualifying for the conference tournament in Abilene, Texas.
