DENISON, Texas — Hendrix lost in a one-run decision to Austin College on Friday night with a final score of 5-4 at THF Park.
Hendrix (15-23, 9-19 SCAC) tied the game with a three-run fifth inning thanks to a
Kaycee Schoen blast, but the 'Roos secured the win with two runs in the seventh to walk off Hendrix.
Austin College took an early lead in the third inning with three runs, but Hendrix responded in the fourth inning when
Rylee Harris tripled to left field and scored on a sacrifice fly by
Tori Maldonado, narrowing the gap to 3-1.
The momentum shifted in the fifth inning as the Warriors took the lead. After a dropped fly ball allowed
Emmaline Trosclair to reach base, Schoen smashed a three-run homer to left field, bringing in
Bell Jaramillo and
Ella Boling to give the Warriors a 4-3 lead.
Despite holding the lead through the sixth inning, the Warriors could not hold Austin College in the seventh as the 'Roos walked off with a two-RBI single
Emma Salis pitched a complete game for the Warriors, recording 6.0 innings with 6 strikeouts without issuing a walk.
Friday's loss knocks the Warriors out of contention for an SCAC playoffs berth, but Hendrix will look to close out the season on a high note with the series-closing doubleheader tomorrow at Sherman High School.
