ABILENE, Texas - The Hendrix men's and women's track and field programs put on a strong showing at the 2026 SCAC Track and Field Championships in Abilene over the weekend, the the Warriors claiming multiple medals over the three-day event.
Both the men's and women's programs finished seventh overall in their respective meets.
The highlight of the weekend came on the final day with
Westin Bruce and
B Adams taking down a couple school records. Bruce clocked a 10.45 in the men's 100 meters to officially become the fastest man in the SCAC. The junior sprinter picked up another medal in the men's 200 meters, finishing third in the event. Adams joined Bruce amongst the ranks of the gold medalists, setting a new SCAC and Hendrix record in the women's discus with a 147' 7" throw and also winning the women's hammer with a 45.56m mark. Adams bronzed in the women's shot put with a 12.28m shot.
Owen Lien finished third in the men's 800 meters with a 1:54.86 to break his own school record last year by almost a whole three seconds.
Ember Hughes began the meet on a high note, finishing second in the women's javelin (37.21m). Hughes was back in the top 10 in the women's high jump with a 1.48m mark to finish seventh in the event. On the men's side,
Jayvian Coulter placed eighth the men's javelin with a 47.57m throw.
Dee Woods made his championships debut with an 8th-placed finish in the men's high jump (1.83m), while freshman
Miguel Manners placed sixth in the men's triple jump (13.19m).
Tristian Johnson finished third in the men's discus with a 42.79m and placed inside the top ten in the men's hammer with a 37.35m throw.
Coulter and Johnson finished fifth and sixth, respectively, in the men's shot put, while
Ty Burgess rounded out the top ten with a 12.53m shot.
On the track, Williams Andrews narrowly missed out on a medal in the men's 110 meter hurdles by finishing fourth with a 15.21.
The Warriors got back on the podium in the men's 4x100 with Jaedim Kim, Manners,
Brooks McGee, and Bruce finishing in 41.49.
