SUWANEE, Ga. - Faith Jones has been named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference's Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday.
Jones was a defensive stalwart for Hendrix at the Illinois Wesleyan Tournament in Bloomington over the weekend, leading the Warriors to a 2-1 start to the season. The junior defensive specialist totaled 55 digs across the three matches, including 22 digs in a five-set win over #24 Dubuque. She averaged 5.0 digs per set, and averaged a weekend-high 6.33 digs per set against #8 Illinois Wesleyan. Jones was also outstanding in defending serves, finishing the weekend with a .979 reception percentage while committing just one error across 11 sets played.
This is Jones' first SCAC Player of the Week award. She will lead the Warriors into the second week of the season as they head to Memphis to take on Rhodes and the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor.
