Located in the Wellness and Athletic Center, Cliff Garrison Court at Grove Gymnasium houses Hendrix's basketball and volleyball events. The unique stadium-style seating holds a capacity crowd of 1,100.
From 2014-2016, the Hendrix volleyball program won three-consecutive Southern Athletic Association championships and hosted SAA tournament during each of those championship runs. Over that three year run, the Warriors went 85-23 (37-5 SAA) and lost just two matches at Grove Gymnasium. The 2015 team made program history as they advanced to the NCAA Division III Quarterfinals, where they defeated Bethel (Minn.) to clinch the school's very-first Final Four appearance.
As a member of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference, Hendrix hosted back-to-back SCAC basketball tournaments at Grove Gymnasium in 2008 and 2009, and is set to host the 2026 SCAC men's and women's basketball tournaments when Hendrix rejoins the conference as a full-time member.
The space is named for two of Hendrix's most iconic coaches, Ivan Grove and Cliff Garrison.
Perhaps known better as "Coach G", Coach Garrison came to Hendrix College as the head basketball coach in 1972 and retired after serving for 31 seasons. His Hendrix teams won 463 games and played in both the NAIA and the NCAA tournaments. Cliff’s teams won five Arkansas Intercollegiate Conference (AIC) championships. Three times he was named AIC Coach of the Year, and twice he was chosen NAIA District 17 Coach of the Year. He is one of only a few men’s college coaches in Arkansas to win over 300 games. In 2015, he was honored with the National Association of Basketball Coaches Guardians of the Game Award for Education at the NCAA Final Four. Coach G is an inductee of the Hendrix Hall of Fame, the Forest City Hall of Fame, and was a 2006 inductee of the Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame.
