Hendrix College Athletics

Shane O'Brien enters his third year as Assistant Coach and his first as Running Backs coach.

This is his seventh year overall at Hendrix, having played for the Warriors in 2015 and 2016 before returning to his alma mater, Tipton-Rosemark Academy in Memphis, to serve as Inside Linebackers coach.

In 2021, he returned to Hendrix to serve as Assistant Wide Receivers coach while continuing his English degree with an emphasis in Film Studies and minor in Literature Studies.

In 2020. O'Brien was hired back at Tipton-Rosemark Academy as Offensive Line coach, Inside Linebackers coach, and film coordinator. He also served as the throwing coach for the Track and Field team in the spring.

In 2018, he was hired as the Tight Ends and Running Backs coach, as well as the film coordinator at North Point Christian School in Southaven, Mississippi.

In 2017, O'Brien was brought on at his alma mater, Tipton-Rosemark Academy in Memphis, to seve as Inside Linebackers coach.

As a player, Shane was a member of the 2015 Warriors team that won the Southern Athletic Association title and achieved the program's first-ever appearance in the NCAA playoffs. In 2016, O'Brien helped the Warriors to a 7-3 record and featured in the Warrior offense that recorded an all-time NCAA-best 600.0 yards per game.

O'Brien is the son of current Special Teams Coordinator and Defensive Backs coach Shannon O'Brien. His brother, Shaun, was a four-year player for the Warriors (2014-2017).
