Hendrix College Athletics

Sandy Burks '19 was named the Director of Athletic Communications in December 2022. He assumed the role of Director of Compliance in April 2024. The 2026-27 academic year will be his seventh at Hendrix.

Burks has served as a voter for D3football.com's All-Region III team since 2023.

He previously served as an assistant with the football program as the running backs coach from 2020-2022. 

Burks joined the coaching staff of his alma mater after wrapping up his career as a four-year letterman (2016-19) and working in the Sports Information Department. He appeared in 37 games and was twice voted All-SAA as a placekicker in 2018 and 2019. Upon completion of his senior season, Burks was inducted into the National Football Foundation Hampshire Honor Society and was named as the 2020 recipient of the Coach Garrison Award.

The North Little Rock, Arkansas native graduated from Hendrix in 2019 with a B.A. in Spanish. He is the son of Todd and Karen Cormier Burks, M.D., both graduates of Hendrix. His mother was an All-American swimmer for the Warriors and a 2012 inductee into the Hendrix College Sports Hall of Honor.

Burks and his wife, Dr. Katy Abramowitz Burks, reside in Conway. Katy was a three-year women's soccer player for the Warriors before graduating early to obtain her doctorate of physical therapy from the University of Central Arkansas.
