Ta-Rel Franklin

Seasons: Second as men's assistant coach, first as women's assistant coach

Ta-Rel Franklin enters his second season as a member of the Hendrix men's basketball coaching staff and first year as a member of the Hendrix women's basketball coaching staff. Franklin will serve as the assistant coach for both Warrior basketball programs.

Before coming to Hendrix, Franklin served as an assistant coach at Bluffton University for two seasons in Bluffton, Ohio. In his time there, he was in charge of recruiting duties, as well as providing in-depth scouting reports on upcoming opponents, breaking down video from practices and games and monitoring academic success regarding the basketball players. Franklin also coached the 2017-18 Bluffton team to a return to the Heartland Conference Tournament.

Prior to Bluffton, Franklin started out as a student assistant coach before transitioning to the director of basketball operations at Alderson Broaddus University (ABU) in Philippi, West Virginia. Franklin's duties at ABU included: daily practice planning, working with guards in practice, develop travel plans for road games, game/practice film breakdown, as well as the day-to-day operations of the team. Franklin was also a member of the 2014-15 Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) regular season and tournament championship team at ABU.

Franklin also worked multiple summers as a youth coach for the Charlotte Hornets of the NBA as well as at the UK John Calipari Summer Basketball Camp. 

A native of Garfield Heights, Ohio, Franklin earned his B.S. in Business Marketing and received his master's degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Sports Management in May 2018.
