Former Millsaps College standout Kasey Laird will join the Hendrix College volleyball and track & field staffs as an assistant coach in 2014.

In 2014, the Warrior volleyball team set a program record with a 31-6 record and won their first ever Southern Athletic Association regular season and tournament titles. Laird helped the squad advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament and finished the season with 43 votes in the AVCA Top 25 Poll.

The 2014 Hendrix team rinished 10th in the nation in kills, 14th in hitting percentage, 16th in blocks and 17th in assists per set.

In her first year, with the Warriors, Laird coached an AVCA All-America Honorable Mention, two AVCA All-South Region selections, the SAA Newcomer of the Year and six All-SAA players.

During the 2015 track & field season, Laird helped coach the throwers that broke three school records. She also helped coach the SAA men's discus champion, the runner-up in the hammer throw and the second and third place finishers in the women's javelin.

Laird spent the 2013-14 school year as an assistant volleyball coach and interim head women's lacrosse coach at Millsaps in Jackson, Miss.

Laird was a volleyball and track & field star for the Majors. As a middle blocker, she was the 2012 Southern Athletic Association Player of the Year and was All-SAA First Team during her senior year. Laird was also a two-time All-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Third Team selection. She finished her career with a school record 1,316 kills and 1,541 digs, the fifth most in school history.

She was a three-time conference champion in the discus and the 2013 SAA champion in the shot put. Laird was named to the SCAC All-Sportsmanship team in track & field in 2009.

Laird started her collegiate career at the University of Louisiana-Lafayette where she was a setter for the Ragin' Cajuns.

A native of New Orleans, La., Laird was three-time All-District Selection for Cabrini High School. She was the District MVP as a senior, helping CHS to a state title. She was named to the 2008 Louisiana Volleyball All-Star Team. Laird also lettered four years in track & field and three seasons in basketball. In 2008, she placed second in state in the discus and third in the shot put.

Laird graduated from Millsaps in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology.
