MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Hendrix College junior
Kevin Austrian shot an even par 72 in the first round of the Southern Athletic Association Men's Golf Championships at Old Fort Golf Club on Friday.
Austrian recorded two birdies and 14 pars and is tied for seventh. He sits three shots off of the three co-leaders who shot a 69.
Junior
Greg Lanese shot a career-low round of 79 and is tied for 36th. He made two birdies and 10 pars in his round. Freshman
Nick Hancock recorded one birdie and eight pars to secure an 82, tied for 43rd. Freshman
Hayden Proctor made seven pars for an 87 and is tied for 45th.
Berry leads all teams with a score of 287. They are followed by Oglethorpe (288), Rhodes (290), Centre (290), Birmingham-Southern (297), Sewanee (306), Millsaps (307) and Hendrix (320).
For the women, junior
Ashley Baker was the Warriors' leader with a 117, placing 40th. Seniors
Sydney King (41st, 123) and
Abby Condit (42nd, 155) followed.
Both teams will play round two of the three round tournament on Saturday.
