NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The Hendrix College women's tennis team edged out John Brown 5-4 at Burns Park on Friday for their first victory of the season.
The Warriors (1-3) picked up a pair of wins in doubles to start the match. Senior
Arden Brazzeal and freshman
Madison Schallhorn defeated the Golden Eagle (0-2) top duo of Michelle Caneday and Leah Engstrom 8-6. Junior
Saranya Prathibha and sophomore
Hannah Smashey won the second doubles flight 8-1 over Kellie Mowrer and Marissa Russmann.
Brazzeal defeated Mowrer 6-2, 6-0 in number one singles and Prathibha won 6-1, 6-0 over Caneday at the second spot. Smashey's 6-1, 7-5 fourth singles win against Prieb sealed the win for Hendrix.
The Warriors will be back in action on Sunday when they host the University of the Ozarks at 9:30 a.m.
