MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Hendrix College volleyball team opened the Rhodes Invitational with a split at Mallory-Hyde Gymnasium on Saturday. The Warriors (6-4, 0-1) lost their first Southern Athletic Association match of the year to host Rhodes College (2-7, 1-0) 25-16, 25-14, 23-25, 25-11, then rebounded to defeat the University of Texas at Tyler (6-2) 25-22, 25-22, 25-21.

Against the Lynx, the Warriors hit just .136 with 39 kills, one ace, 57 digs and 3.5 total blocks. Rhodes hit .292 with 57 kills, 10 aces, 71 digs and five blocks.

Freshmen MC Rogers and Jen Karnes each had seven kills and junior libero Ella Concavage-Nasar led the way with 14 digs for Hendrix. Freshman setter/right side hitter Holyn Duyck connected on five kills and assisted 18 points and freshman setter Allison Gaia had 10 assists and nine digs.

Rhodes was led by Catherine Grimes' 19 kills to go with 10 digs and Alexis Krall had 17 kills. Maraia Tremarelli led the defense with 30 digs and setter Michelle Quina recorded 46 assists.

In the win over the Patriots, Hendrix hit .270 with 44 kills, five aces, 47 digs and eight blocks. UTT hit just .207 with 38 kills, three aces, 44 digs and three blocks.

Rogers led the way 14 kills and had 10 digs and five block assists. Karnes connected on nine kills and Duyck recorded six kills and 17 assists. Freshman outside hitter Samantha Stockdale added six kills and freshman Leila Matsumoto came up with 12 digs. Freshman middle blocker Grace Griffin led the defense with six block assists and sophomore Jill Sikes registered 10 digs. Gaia also had 17 assists.

Breanna Brummett led the Patriots with eight kills and Courtney Criswelll had 12 digs.

Hendrix will wrap up the invitational on Sunday against East Texas Baptist and Maryville (Tenn.).
