CLARKSVILLE, Ark. - The Hendrix College women's tennis team opened the 2013-14 season with an 8-1 road victory over the University of the Ozarks on Monday.

The Warriors (1-0) swept through doubles, and only lost a point in singles after sophomore Madison Schallhorn retired in the second flight.

Freshmen Julia Lefler and Lauren Mahaney swept Elly Eibes and Whitney Lewis 8-0 in number one doubles. Schallhorn and sophomore Kaci Dickey edged out Mollie Wilkinson and Megan Wallace 9-7 in the second doubles and the third doubles freshman tandem of Pratheepa Ravikumar and Anusha Majagi defeated Macie Kelley and Kristen Swafford 8-2.

Lefler also won top singles over Lewis 6-1, 6-0. Senior Saranya Prathibha downed Wilkinson 6-1, 6-2 at third singles and Mahaney picked up a 6-0, 6-2 win over Kalli Simpson in the fourth flight. Ravikumar topped Kelley 6-3, 6-1 in number five singles and junior Hannah Smashey defeated Swafford 6-3, 6-1 in the sixth spot.

The Warriors will compete in the ITA Regional Championships in Tyler, Texas beginning on Friday.
