JACKSON, Miss. - The Hendrix College women's soccer team stayed unbeaten in Southern Athletic Association play, beating conference foe Millsaps 4-2 on Saturday afternoon in Jackson.
Samantha Lallas netted a trio of goals to register her second hat trick of the season, leading the Warriors to victory.
Lallas' hat trick is her third multi-score game. The junior notched two goals in a 2-1 win over Mary Hardin-Baylor and tallied six goals against Louisiana College.
Jordan Rausch made two saves to earn the win in net for the Warriors, while Elise Davis made seven saves in the losing effort for Millsaps.Â
Sydney Fobare put the Warriors on the board in the first half, scoring in the 21st minute. Lallas delivered a free kick into the box where Fobare put away the loose ball to give Hendrix a 1-0 lead in the early going. Just 2:07 later, Lallas added her first tally of the game, extending the Hendrix lead to 2-0. Rausch turned away Millsaps' only chance in the first half as the Warriors took their two-goal lead into the halftime break.
In the second frame, Lallas continued her scoring ways, adding two more goals to the Hendrix tally. In the 54th minute, the forward beat the Millsaps goalkeeper to put the Warriors ahead 3-0. Six minutes later, the junior cleaned up a loose ball off of a corner kick, depositing it into the net to complete her hat trick.
Lindy Robichaux did her best to propel the Majors back into contention, but her effort was too little too late. The Millsaps forward scored a pair of goals in the 75th and 79th minutes to make the score 4-2, but it wasn't enough to match the Warriors as Hendrix rolled to victory.
Millsaps falls to 2-7-1 on the season with an 0-2-0 mark in conference. The Warriors improve to 6-4-1 on the season, including a 1-0-1 record in SAA play. The squad will return to action on Friday, October 17 when they host Centre College in another SAA tilt.Â
