CONWAY, Ark. - The Hendrix College women's soccer team lost to Centre College 2-1 in Southern Athletic Association play at Warrior Field Friday night.
The host Warriors (6-5-1, 1-1-1) scored in the 36th minute on a goal from sophomore forward
Janie Stultz - her second score of the season - to go up 1-0. Freshman midfielder
Lucy Moore assisted the goal.
The Colonels (9-4-1, 1-2) tied the game just 40 seconds into the second half when Alex Combs found the net on a pass by Nancy Ingham. Combs netted the game-winner in the 59th minute with an assist from Anne Mitchell.
Centre outshot Hendrix 18-2 on the game, including 11-1 in the second half. The Colonels also had a 6-1 advantage in corner kicks. Stultz and senior midfielder
Emma Paul took a shot each for Hendrix.
Freshman keeper
Jordan Rausch recorded four saves in the loss. Sophomore
Symone Bennett also stopped a shot from going in for a team save.
Hendrix will host Sewanee - The University of the South on Sunday at noon. The Warriors will honor their three seniors - Paul,
Kacey Hight and
Laurie Waters - before the game.
