CONWAY, Ark. - The Hendrix College volleyball team tied their program record for most wins in a season as they swept first-place Birmingham-Southern College 25-17, 25-19, 25-18 in Southern Athletic Association play on Saturday.
The Warriors, under fourth-year head coach
Ryan Meek, improve to 20-4 overall and 7-2 in conference, moving into a three-way tie for first with BSC and Berry and Millsaps could make it a four-way tie with a win over Rhodes later on Saturday. The win ties last year's team who went 20-12 and advanced to the SAA Tournament Finals.
Hendrix hit .268 on the day with 38 kills, eight aces, 51 digs and 10 blocks. The Panthers (16-7, 7-2) hit .065 with 29 kills, seven aces, 45 digs and two blocks.
Sophomore outside hitter
MC Rogers paced the Orange & Black with 11 kills and a season-high six blocks, along with eight digs. Freshman middle blocker
Sara Dyslin hit .533 with nine kills and four blocks. Sophomore
Samantha Stockdale added six kills and four blocks and sophomore
Natalie Masten had five kills and hit .455. Sophomore setter
Holyn Duyck came up with 17 assists and seven digs and sophomore
Allison Gaia had 14 kills, eight aces and a career-best four aces. Junior libero
Felicia Beeman led the defense with 16 digs.
Lynsie Byrd led BSC with nine kills. Katie McCormack recorded 26 assists and Lauren Bedford came up with 14 digs.
Hendrix will host Millsaps at Grove Gymnasium on Sunday at 1 p.m.
