Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Hendrix Topped by Centre

CONWAY, Ark. - The Hendrix College men's soccer team fell 1-0 to Centre College in a Southern Athletic Association match on Friday night at Warrior Field.

Nathan Myers made a career-high 10 saves in net, but it wasn't enough to keep the Colonels off the scoreboard as Myers took the loss between the sticks. Ohan Missirian-Dill made one save to earn the shutout in goal for the Colonels.

The Warriors applied pressure early on in the first half and had the frame's best opportunity to score off of a set play. Wessel Westerhoff beat a man down the left wing and found Spencer Taylor near the top of the box. Taylor then dished it off to Jacob Pierce who struck the ball that looked destined for the low corner of the goal, but Missirian-Dill parried it away to keep Hendrix scoreless. The attempt was the only shot on goal for the Warriors on the evening.

In the second half, Hendrix was outhsot 9-3 by Centre, who finally broke the scoring seal in the 71st minute. Centre played in a corner from the left flank that was parried away by the Warriors' defense, but not cleared to safety. Jacob Trumbull trapped the ball down to Caleb Vogel who ripped a shot off the gloves of Myers and into the net for the goal, putting the Colonels ahead 1-0 with just under 20 minutes to play.

Trailing by a goal, Hendrix pressed the Centre back line, but the Colonels held fast to their lead. As the final moments expired, Centre held on for the narrow victory.

Hendrix moves to 3-10-1 on the season, with an 0-3-0 mark in the SAA. The squad will return to action on Sunday, October 19 when the team plays host to SAA foe Sewanee. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.
