CONWAY, Ark. - The Hendrix College women's soccer suffered a 4-2 loss to Sewanee - The University of the South in Southern Athletic Association play at Warrior Field Sunday.
Before the game, the Warriors (6-6-1, 1-2-1) honored their three seniors - defender
Kacey Hight, midfielder
Emma Paul and midfielder
Laurie Waters.
The visiting Tigers (10-4, 3-1) got on the board first in the 9th minute when Sissy Frank scored on a Jamie Samociuk pass. Shelby Meckstroth gave Sewanee a 2-0 advantage in the 27th minute with an assist from Kiley Ezzell.
Sophomore forward
Janie Stultz came off the bench to find the net for the second time in two games with an assist from junior
Samantha Lallas to cut the deficit to 2-1 in the 30th minute.
Lallas tied the game with an assist from freshman
Lucy Moore just 14 seconds into the second half. The goal was the 14th on the year for Lallas.
The Tigers took the lead for good in the 54th minute when Grace Priest found Tyler Edell for a score. Jordan Najmabadji added an insurance goal in the 81st minute, with an assist from Meckstroth.
For the game Sewanee outshot Hendrix 20-7 overall and 11-4 on goal. The Tigers also held a 3-0 advantage in corner kicks.
Freshman
Jordan Rausch recorded seven saves for the Warriors. Olivia Glascoe had two for Sewanee.
Hendrix will go on the road for another SAA match-up at Berry College in Mount Berry, Ga. on Friday.
