Warriors Sweep Sewanee

CONWAY, Ark. - The Hendrix College volleyball team earned a 3-0 sweep of Sewanee - The University of the South to earn at least a share of the Southern Athletic Association regular season crown.

Ella Concavage-Nasar, the squad's lone senior, was honored during pre-game ceremonies. Concavage-Nasar finished with 10 digs, two assists, and an ace in the final regular season home match of her Hendrix career. MC Rogers led the Warriors with a match-high 11 kills, while Sara Dyslin registered 10 kills on the day and hit a career-best .692 on the day. Bradi Ryan finished with nine kills while Samantha Stockdale put away eight.

Allison Gaia led the Warriors with 23 assists while Holyn Duyck added 17. Felicia Beeman notched a team-high 18 digs for the Warriors as well. Natalie Masten and Dyslin each recorded a pair of block assists while Stockdale and Lauren Petrisin teamed up for a block as well.

The Warriors earned a 25-21 first set victory, by hitting .220 for 15 kills. The team started the set in a 4-1 hole but righted the ship quickly, going on a 9-4 run to take a 10-8 lead. Hendrix pulled away on a pair of kills from Petrisin followed by back-to-back aces from Rogers, taking a 20-14 lead and cruised the rest of the way to take down the first set.

In the second set, the Warriors dominated at the point of attack, hitting .368 for the set with 20 kills. Dyslin led the way to the 2-0 Hendrix lead with seven kills in the second set to pace the Warriors to a 25-17 set victory.

Hendrix completed their sweep with a 25-15 third set win over the Tigers. The Warriors kept the pressure on in the third, hitting .342 with 17 kills while holding the Tigers to just a .056 hitting percentage. Masten, Rogers, Ryan, and Stockdale each tallied three kills while Rowan Bond finished off the match with a pair of kills to earn the sweep.

With the victory, Hendrix improves on their record-breaking season, moving to 24-4 on the year. The team remains atop the SAA standings with a conference mark of 11-2. The Warriors will take on Centre College on Sunday, October 26 at 11a.m. in their final conference contest of the regular season. With a win, Hendrix would secure the top seed in the SAA Playoffs and the right to host the tournament.
