SHERMAN, Texas - The Hendrix College men's basketball team picked up their first road victory of the season, defeating Austin College 76-69 at Hughey Gym on Saturday afternoon.
The Warriors (3-3) jumped out to an early 7-0 lead and led almost the entire game with the host 'Roos (2-4) managing to tie the game twice early in the first period. Hendrix took a 36-29 lead into halftime and expanded their lead to 17 points with a 60-43 lead with 9:01 to play. Austin fought back to come within six points in the final minute of the game, but the Orange & Black held off the comeback.
The Warriors shot 57.1 percent (12-of-21) from the field in the second half and 45.1 percent (23-of-51) for the game. They were 7-of-17 from three-point range and 23-of-39 at the free throw line. The 'Roos shot 34.8 percent (23-of-66) from the floor, 9-of-27 from outside and 14-of-23 at the line. Hendrix won the rebound battle 51-32.

Luke Vance netted 21 points, one off his career best, on 7-of-12 shooting and pulled down 12 rebounds. Junior guard
Jordan Barrett tallied 14 points - his best output of the season. Junior guard
Drew Nikolovski came off the bench to score 13 points and sophomore
Travis Garrett scored a career-high eight points. Junior
Hank Aldous was held to five points put he recorded career highs of 12 rebounds and five assists.
Austin was led by Brian Baehl's 22 points and Austin Freet added 18.
Hendrix will travel to Shreveport, La. for a battle with Centenary College at 4 p.m. on Sunday.
