SEWANEE, Tenn. - The Hendrix College women's lacrosse team lost to Sewanee - The University of the South 22-9 in Southern Athletic Association play on Friday night.

The host Tigers (4-1, 2-0) outshot the Warriors (2-4, 1-2) 41-14 and 36-12 on goal. Sewanee had an advantage in ground balls (25-18) and turnovers (22-30).

Hendrix trailed 4-3 with 20:31 left in the first half before Sewanee outscored the Orange & Black 12-3 the rest of the period. The Tigers had six goals in the second half, while the Warriors scored four times.

Freshman midfielder Kate Davis led Hendrix with six goals. Freshman midfielder Raychl Reger had two goals, three ground balls, four draw controls and two caused turnovers. Freshman midfielder Althea Strozier also found the cage and freshman Amibeth Marks had one assist and three ground balls. Freshman defender Gabryele Pochron had three ground balls, three draw controls and two caused turnovers.

Freshman Rebecca Alexander recorded 10 saves in goal, while sophomore Dynica Greer had four.

Ellie Murphy led the Tigers with four goals and four assists. Katie Riddle had three goals and three helps with five ground balls. Sally Anne Greenwood scored three times and had six draw controls.

Hendrix will face Carthage College on Saturday afternoon in Sewanee.
