CONWAY, Ark. - Despite several close matches, the Hendrix College women's tennis team lost 8-1 to the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor at the Hendrix Tennis Courts on Friday night.
The Warriors (3-5) only point came in number one singles, where freshman
Pratheepa Ravikumar came from behind to win in a tiebreaker over Chaley Shiffler 1-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-6). The Cru (3-2) took number three singles when Hannah Warren defeated freshman
Lauren Mahaney 6-1, 3-6, 1-0 (10-3) in another tiebreaker. Senior
Saranya Prathibha lost to Elizabeth Ostroff 6-4, 6-2 in the fifth spot.
The first two doubles matches were extremely close, with UMHB coming out on top. Shiffler and Warren defeated Ravikumar and Mahaney 9-7 in the first flight and AshLee Bilbo and Angelie Juaneza downed junior
Hannah Smashey and Prathibha 9-7 in number two.
Hendrix will play again on Mar. 29 at Southern Athletic Association rival Birmingham-Southern College.
