Warriors Fall to Majors on the Road

JACKSON, Miss. - The Hendrix College women's lacrosse team lost 17-9 to Millsaps College at Harper Davis Field in Southern Athletic Association play on Saturday afternoon.

The host Majors (3-3, 2-1) outshot the Warriors (4-6, 1-3) 37-25 overall and 30-21 on goal. Millsaps also had a 43-32 ground ball advantage and won the turnover battle 18-24. Both teams won 14 draw controls.

Millsaps scored the first six goals of the game over the first 11:27. Freshman midfielder Kate Davis put the Warriors on the board, followed by a score from freshman McKenzie Stribling on a pass by Raychl Reger.

The Majors scored five of the next six goals to end the period, giving Millsaps an 11-3 lead at halftime.

Both teams scored six goals in the second half.

Reger, a freshman from Fort Collins, Colo., led Hendrix with a season-high five goals and an assist. She also picked up six ground balls and four draws. Freshman midfielder Kate Davis scored three times with a season-best eight ground balls and three caused turnovers. Stribling had one goal and freshman defender Gabryele Pochron had four ground balls and two caused turnovers. Freshman keeper Rebecca Alexander had a season-high 13 saves with four ground balls.

Katie Iskra led Millsaps with five goals and eight ground balls. JB Page scored four times with two assists and Whitney Smith recorded a hat trick. Theresa Woehnker had two goals, two assists and six ground balls. Kendall Fann had six ground balls, seven draws and four caused turnovers. Keeper Madleyn Walker stopped 11 shots.

Hendrix will play at Oklahoma Baptist in an exhibition game at 2 p.m. Tuesday.
