Box ScoreSEWANEE, Tenn. - The first women's lacrosse season in school history ended on Saturday as Hendrix College lost 19-2 to Sewanee - the University of the South in the first round of the Southern Athletic Association Tournament.
The seventh-seeded Warriors ended their inaugural season with a 4-10 record. The #2 Tigers moved to the semifinals at 11-6.
Sewanee outshot Hendrix 32-14 overall and 27-7 on goal. The home team also had a 29-17 ground ball advantage and led 16-7 in draw controls. The Tigers also won the turnover battle 19-32 and went 14-of-18 on clears, while the Warriors were 11-of-25.

Kate Davis had both goals for Hendrix, giving her a team-high 51 on the season. Sophomore
Caitlin Kriesel-Bigler won four draw controls and freshman defender

Rebecca Alexander had eight saves and three ground balls.
Katie Riddle led Sewanee with three goals and two assists, while Brita Brudvig had two goals and three helpers. Mallory Grimm added three goals and an assist and Whitney Reed had a score and three assists. Sally Anne Grennwood recorded five draw controls and five caused turnovers. Alexis Crittenden picked up five ground balls and Crawford Horan had five saves in goal.
The game was the final for two Hendrix seniors - attacker Molly Umbel and defender
Jenny Rable.
