ELSAH, Ill. - The Hendrix College swimming & diving teams defeated Principia College in a duel meet on Friday night. The Warrior women dominated en route to a 120-62 win, while the men won 88-78.
Hendrix took first place in 14 of the 24 events. This is the second straight year the Warriors have defeated the Panthers in a duel.
Hendrix Women's Highlights- Senior
Sydney Haldeman recorded two first place finishes, winning the 200 freestyle in 2:08.41 and 100 individual medley in 1:06.37.
- Junior
Kate Henricks won the 50 yard backstroke in 32.38 seconds and was second in the 50 freestyle in 29:07.
- Junior
Caroline Forbes took first in the 100 free in 58.82.
- Senior
Kaia Duke had a personal record in the 50 breaststroke in 37.34, good for a first place finish.
- Senior
Taylor Keplin shaved four seconds off her season 500 freestyle time, taking first in 6:03.28.
- Freshman
Sydney Lacey finished second in the 50 yard butterfly in 29.62
- The 200 medley relay team of Haldeman, Duke, Lacey and Forbes was first in 2:04.39. The 200 freestyle relay tandem of Henricks, Forbes,
Abby Schlenk and
Christina Santner also won their race in 1:52.15.
Hendrix Men's Highlights- Freshman
Will Matheson won two races - the 200 freestyle in 1:51.31 and the 500 freestyle with a personal best 5:13.17.
- Junior
Eric Mullins also took two firsts, winning the 50 free in 24.34 and the 100 free in 55.17.
- Freshman
Brandon Cathey won the 50 butterfly in 25.24 and sophomore
Chris Griffin took first in the 50 breaststroke with a time of 31.12 seconds.
- Sophomore
Troy Koser took second in the 50 yard backstroke with a time of 28.16. He also was third in the 100 IM with a personal best 1:00.87, shaving nearly 10 seconds off hist time from last year.
- Matheson, Mullins, Cathey and Griffin placed second in the 200 freestyle relay in 1:33.50.
Up Next- Hendrix will remain in Elsah for the Panther Invite on Saturday. The women finished second out of six teams last year, while the men placed third out of six in 2014.
