Katy Gallien scored a season-high 13 points and
Anna King pulled down a double-double but it wasn't enough to earn the win for the Hendrix College women's basketball team as they fell 81-70 at Berry College.
King led the Warriors with 16 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for her sixth double-double of the season, while
Kati Broberg notched 10 points.
Caitlin Kriesel-Bigler and
Sara Dyslin each chipped in with nine points apiece and Dyslin ripped a game-high 14 boards.Â
Hendrix struggled shooting the basketball, converting just 27-of-78 field goals for a 34.6% shooting percentage. Berry was much more successful shooting the ball on their home floor, knocking down 29-of-61 attempts for a 47.5% shooting clip. The Hendrix defense forced the Vikings into 17 turnovers, but only converted for 23 points off of turnovers.Â
In the first half, the Warriors played the Vikings even for the first seven minutes, and took an 18-16 lead on a Kriesel-Bigler three-pointer with 12:22 to go. Berry finished the half on a 28-18 run to take an eight-point lead into the halftime break.Â
Hendrix cut into the lead early in the second half, drawing within three points on a King jumper, making the score 48-45, but that was as close as the Warriors drew to evening the score. Berry ran out to a 20-point lead, limiting the Orange and Black to just eight points over the next 12 minutes of play. The Warriors fought hard in the final minutes of play, cutting the deficit to 11, but time ran out on their comeback as the Vikings earned the conference win.
Berry moves to 10-3 on the season, including a 2-0 mark in the SAA standings.Â
Hendrix snaps their three-game winning streak, falling to 5-8 on the season, with an 0-2 record in conference play. The Warriors will return to action on Sunday when they travel to Atlanta to face Oglethorpe University in another SAA tilt.
