BSC Defeats Hendrix 2-1

CONWAY, Ark. - The Hendrix College women's soccer team lost to Birmingham-Southern College 2-1 in the final Southern Athletic Association regular season game of the season at Warrior Field Saturday.

With the loss, the Warriors fall to 9-7-1 overall and 2-5 in the league. They will be the sixth seed in the SAA Tournament and will most likely face Rhodes College, the third seed, in Memphis, Tenn. next Saturday. The Panthers improve to 8-7 and 3-4 and will be the fifth seed.

Hendrix drew first blood just 3:44 into the contest when sophomore defender Maddie Mae Seyer scored on a corner kick assist from senior forward Samantha Lallas. BSC tied it up in the 13th mintute on Avery Newcomb's goal and assist from Sammy Manzo. The Panthers scored the game winner in the 21st minute on a goal by Nicole Newton, assisted by Kayla Auger.

Hendrix took three shots on goal in the second half, but reserve keeper Katie Williams stopped them all to preserve the win for BSC.

For the game, the Panthers outshot the Warriors 16-11 overall and 9-6 on goal. Hendrix led in corner kicks 4-2.

Hendrix Notes
- Seyer's goal was the first of her career.
- Lallas' assist was the seventh of the season and 24th of her career.
- Sophomore midfielder Lucy Moore took three shots on goal.
- Freshman Sydney Blevins and junior Janie Stultz also took a shot on goal each.
- Sophomore keeper Jordan Rausch recorded seven saves.

Birmingham-Southern Notes
- Newcomb's goal was the sixth of the season. She took four shots on goal.
- Newton scored for the first time this year.
- Manzo recorded three shots on goal.
- Ansley Tomlin had two saves in the first half and Williams recorded three saves.

Hendrix will wrap up the regular season Sunday against Centenary College of Louisiana at home at 1 p.m.
