Hendrix Secures SAA Title, Meek Wins #100

SEWANEE, Tenn. - The Hendrix College volleyball team secured a least a share of the Southern Athletic Association regular season title and the right to host the SAA Tournament in two weeks with a 25-9, 25-21, 25-15 sweep of Sewanee - The University of the South on Saturday.

The win was also the 100th in the career of head coach Ryan Meek, who is in his fifth season at the helm of the Warriors (19-7, 12-1).

Hendrix dominated the first set, but trailed the Tigers (10-13, 3-10) most of the second. Sewanee led 15-11 and the Orange & Black finally tied it up at 18-18. The Warriors ended the set with a 7-3 run. Hendrix finished the match with an easy third set win.

For the match, the Warriors hit .252 with 38 kills, three aces, 56 digs and six blocks. The Tigers hit .067 with 28 kills, two aces, 48 digs and two blocks.
 
Hendrix Notes
- Sophomore right side hitter Lauren Petrisin hit .385 with 11 kills.
- Freshman outside hitter Brianna Kelly had seven kills and hit .429.
- Junior outside hitter MC Rogers added seven kills, eight digs and three blocks.
- Sophomore middle blocker Sara Dyslin had five kills and four blocks.
- Junior Allison Gaia assisted 17 points and junior Holyn Duyck recorded 11 assists.
- Senior libero Felicia Beeman came up with 23 digs.

Sewanee Notes
- Caroline Montgomery paced Sewanee with eight kills.
- Maggie Stanford added six kills.
- Walker Buxton had 21 assists and 10 digs.
- Sara Jayne Sutton led the Tigers with 13 digs.

Up Next
Hendrix will wrap up conference play Sunday at Centre College in Danville, Ky. They will also face Berea College in non-conference action.
