SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. - The Hendrix College women's tennis team finish the fall portion of their season undefeated with a 9-0 win at John Brown University Saturday.
The Warriors (2-0) swept through doubles with juniors
Julia Lefler and
Lauren Mahaney topping Jessie Alexander and Taylor Russell 8-4 at the first flight, and junior
Pratheepa Ravikumar and sophomore
Laela Zaidi downing Eva Berry and Krizana Saucedo 8-4 for at the second spot. Senior
Any Jivan and sophomore
Sarah Walker defeated Caitlin King and Grace Cusick 8-2 at number three doubles.
In singles, Hendrix needed three third-set tiebreakers to finish off the Golden Eagles (0-1). Mahaney defeated Saucedo 11-9 in the extra set in the third flight. Walker defeated Clare Holden 10-3 in the third set at number four and sophomore
Sarah Nieman had a 12-10 win in the third set over Cusick in the sixth spot.
Lefler had an easy 6-1, 6-1 win over Alexander in number one singles. Sophomore Leala Zaidi defeated Claire Griffin 6-2, 6-2 at the fifth spot and Ravikumar had a 6-3, 7-5 decision over Russell at number two.
Hendrix will return to competition on Feb. 10 when they host Harding University at the Hatcher Tennis Center.
