SHREVEPORT, La. - The Hendrix College women's basketball team easily defeated Centenary College of Louisiana 85-62 on the final day of the SCAC-SAA Challenge at the Gold Dome Sunday afternoon.
The Warriors (2-1) shot a blistering 53.4 percent (31-of-58) from the field, while the Ladies (2-2) struggled, making just 31.7 percent (19-of-60) of their shots.
Centenary led 19-12 late in the first quarter, but Hendrix ended the first half on a 27-11 run and took a 39-30 lead into the break. The Warriors would lead by 11 or more the entire second half, including a 25-point advantage in the final minute.
The Warriors were also 6-of-17 from three point range and 17-of-24 at the free throw line. The Ladies were 3-of-17 from outside and 21-of-29 at the stripe.
Sophomore forward
Heather Prowse paced Hendrix with a career-best 21 points and nine rebounds. Senior guard
Caitlin Kriesel-Bigler also had 19 points and seven assists.
Hendrix Notes- Prowse, from Mount Vernon, Ark., was 9-of-11 from the field, tied for the third best shooting percentage in school history.
- Kriesel-Bigler now has 1,045 career points and moved into 11th in program history. She also moved into second place on the career assists list with 357.
- Junior guard
Hailey Bode came off the bench to score a career-high nine points.
- Junior forward
Anna King recorded eight points and six rebounds.
- Senior forward
Katy Gallien added eight points and three assists.
Centenary Notes- Jasmine Morris led the Ladies with 21 points, six rebounds and four steals off the bench.
- Samantha Lyons scored 14 points.
- Briana Edwards chipped in 13 points.
Up NextHendrix will compete again at the Rhodes Thanksgiving Classic in Memphis, Tenn. against Rust College at 4 p.m. Saturday.
