CONWAY, Ark. - The Hendrix College volleyball team will play for the SAA Tournament title and a trip to the NCAA Division III Tournament for the the third straight year when they take on Birmingham-Southern College Sunday at noon at Grove Gymnasium.
The top-seeded Warriors (24-8) reached the finals by sweeping #4 Millsaps (15-16) 25-17, 25-21, 27-25.
Hendrix easily took the first set by hitting .306 with 15 kills while the Majors hit .100 with nine kills. Set two was tied at 19-19, when the Orange & Black rattled off a 6-2 run to end the frame, including three kills from junior outside hitter
MC Rogers.
Millsaps led 20-16 in the third, but Hendrix fought back to tie up at 20-20. The Majors answered with three more points, but the Warriors tied it again at 23-23. Tied at 25-25, Hendrix scored the game-winning points on a Millsaps error and a
Sara Dyslin kill.
For the match, the Warriors hit .211 with 40 kills, eight aces, 52 digs and seven blocks. The Majors hit .138 with 33 kills, three aces, 52 digs and six blocks.
Hendrix Notes- The Warriors lost to Berry in the 2013 finals, but defeated Birmingham-Southern in the finals a year ago.
- Rogers recorded her 13th double-double by leading Hendrix with 13 kills and 17 digs.
- Dyslin hit .316 with nine kills, five digs and seven total blocks.
