SEGUIN, Texas - The Hendrix College women's basketball six-game win streak came to an end with an 88-78 loss at Texas Lutheran University Friday afternoon.
The Warriors (7-2) trailed throughout the entire first half, with the Bulldogs (4-4) leading 45-34 at the break. Hendrix opened the third quarter with a 12-0 run to take a 46-45 lead at the 7:37 mark. However, TLU came back to take a 62-58 lead going into the fourth quarter. TLU outscored the Warriors 26-20 in the final period.
Sophomore center
Sara Dyslin led the Warriors with 34 points, tied for the sixth most in school history, and 11 rebounds. The San Jose, Calif. product went 12-of-18 from the field and 10-of-11 from the free throw line.
For the game, Hendrix shot 44.4 percent (28-of-63) from the floor, 2-of-9 from three-point range and 20-of-26 from the line. TLU shot 54.5 percent (36-of-66) overall, 5-of-13 from outside and 11-of-20 at the line. The Warriors held a 39-33 rebound advantage.
Hendrix Notes- Dyslin was one point off her career-high and is just the fifth player in school history to have multiple 30-point performances. She also tied her career-high with three steals.
- Sophomore forward
Heather Prowse registered 19 points on 7-of-10 shooting, to go with five rebounds, two assists and two blocks.
- Senior guard Caitlin Krisel-Bigler scored five points and dished out three assists. It was the first time all season she was held to under double digit points.
- Sophomore guard
Breann Forbes came off the bench to scored seven points and grab a season-high seven boards.
- Junior forward
Anna King added six points and four rebounds.
- Senior forward
Katy Gallien had a season-best four assists.
Texas Lutheran Notes- Adelaide Wenzel recorded 15 points, four assists and two steals.
- Kristen Lye also had 15 points and three steals.
- Autumn Shead came off the bench with 12 points and three blocks.
- Savannah Hight added 11 points, seven rebounds, four assists and three blocks.
Up NextHendrix will travel to Kerrville, Texas to face Schreiner University at 2 p.m. Saturday.
