SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The Hendrix College men's basketball team were defeated by Southwestern University 84-72 on the final day of the Trinity Invitational Saturday night.
The Warriors (1-9) built a 25-18 lead with 7:26 to play in the first half, but the Pirates (3-6) fought back to tkae a 43-39 lead at the break. SU scored the first six points of the second half to lead 49-39, but Hendrix went on a 16-7 run to make the game 56-54 with 10:09 to play. The Pirates outscored the Warriors 28-18 in the final 10 minutes nail down the win.
Hendrix shot 50 percent (14-of-28) in the first half, but went cold in the final period, making just 28.6 percent (10-of-35) of their shots. For the game, the Warriors shot 38.1 percent (24-of-63) from the field, 9-of-29 from three-point range and 15-of-23 at the free throw line. The Pirates shot 45.2 percent (28-of-62) overall, 8-of-22 from outside and 20-of-27 at the stripe. Hendrix held a 42-37 rebound advantage.

John Ogle scored 13 points and tied his season-high with nine rebounds.

Aaron Steele also had 13 points and a career-high six boards.

Preston Smith had 11 points and five rebounds off the bench.

Gearen Littlefield had seven points and nine rebounds.

Bryce Batchelor scored seven off the bench.

Drew Nikolovski recorded six points, four rebounds and four assists.
Southwestern Notes- Karrey Sanders led the Pirates with 16 points.
- Ryan Ogden had 15 points, nine rebounds and two blocks.
- Connor Kim scored 13 points.
- Chris Molina added 12 points and four assists
- Benjamin Stiver also scored 12 and pulled down six boards.
- Chris Lee netted 10 points with three steals.
- The Pirates are coached by Hendrix alum Janson Hightower (2010).
Up NextHendrix will be off until Dec. 29 when they face Emory & Henry at the Rhodes Classic in Memphis, Tenn.
