CONWAY, Ark. - The Hendrix College men's basketball fell to Rhodes College 63-59 in the first Southern Athletic Association game of the season at Grove Gymnasium Wednesday night.
The Warriors (1-5, 0-1) jumped out to a 12-0 lead over the first 6:45 of the game, but the Lynx (3-2, 1-0) fought back to tie it 28-28 at halftime. Rhodes took a 43-36 lead with 13:15 left in the second half, but Hendrix answered with a 14-3 run, seven of which came from freshman forward
Bryce Batchelor, to go up 50-46 with 6:27 to play.
The Lynx came back with a 10-0 over the next two minutes to regain the lead for good. A pair of free throws by Warrior freshman point guard
Preston Smith with 1:01 to play made the game 58-56. JJ Weir answered with a three-pointer on Rhodes' next trip down to court to keep it a two-possession game during the final 45 seconds.
The Lynx scored 25 points, 17 in the second half, off of 19 Warrior turnovers. For the game, the Orange & Black shot 38.1 percent (16-of-42) from the field, 6-of-14 from outside and 21-of-32 at the line. Rhodes shot 46.6 percent (27-of-58) overall, 5-of-12 from three-point range and 4-of-18 at the stripe. The Lynx held a 39-33 rebounding edge.
Hendrix Notes- Batchelor led the Warriors with 13 points and eight rebounds, both season bests, off the bench.

Travis Garrett hit a trio of three-pointers for 11 points to go with four rebounds and a career-high four assists.

John Ogle added 10 points and six rebounds.
Rhodes Notes- Andrew Lowrie paced Rhodes with 13 points off the bench.
- Aquil Muhammad recorded 12 points and 13 rebounds.
- Brennan Sullivan and Keyshawn Butts added nine points each.
- Weir registered nine assists and four steals.
Up NextHendrix will return to non-conference play at Austin College in Sherman, Texas on Saturday.
