BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Hendrix College men's basketball team lost to Southern Athletic Association rival Birmingham-Southern College 74-65 at Bill Battle Coliseum on Sunday afternoon.
The visiting Warriors (6-13, 1-7) trailed the Panthers (13-6, 5-3) by 14 with 13:29 to play, but was able to cut the deficit to five points at 59-54 over the next eight minutes with a 18-9 run. BSC's Larry Thomas and Larry McLean combined to go 13-of-14 at the free throw line in the final five minutes to help seal the win.
The Panthers led 32-28 at the break.
The game was decided at the free throw line, as BSC went 22-of-31 from the stripel and Hendrix was 9-of-17.
Hendrix Notes- The Warriors committed just 10 turnovers, their second fewest on the year.
- Hendrix shot 41.4 percent from the field (24-of-58) and 38.1 percent (8-of-21) from three-point range.
- Junior guard
Hank Aldous led the Warriors with 15 points to go with five rebounds and three assists.
- Sophomore point guard
Gabe Gumm netted 11 points, his third double-digit scoring performance of the year, and dished out five assists.
- Senior forward
Luke Vance scored 10 points, grabbed nine boards and blocked a pair of shots.

Aaron Steele came off the bench to score nine points on three outside shots in the first half.

Travis Garrett had seven points off the bench and junior
John Ogle had four points, six rebounds and two blocks.
Birmingham-Southern Notes- With the win the Panthers moved into a three-way tie for third place in the SAA standings at 5-3.
- Guard Larry Thomas, the league's leading scorer, had 33 points on 11-of-16 shooting and went 9-of-10 at the free throw line. He also had eight boards and three steals.
- Ian Thom added 10 points and Alex Avery grabbed 13 rebounds.
- McLean scored nine points and went 7-for-7 at the free throw line.
- The Panthers shot 41.8 percent (23-of-55) from the field and 28.6 percent (6-of-21) from outside.
- BSC held a 40-35 rebounding edge
