Hendrix Tripped up at Birmingham-Southern

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Hendrix College women's basketball team came up short on Sunday, falling 75-68 to Southern Athletic Association foe Birminhgam-Southern College.

Sara Dyslin finished with 19 pointsand eight rebounds for the Warriors while Caitlin Kriesel-Bigler scored 18, with 13 coming in the second half, and dished off five assists. Anna King finished with 14 points and six rebounds. 

The Warriors fell behind early as the Panthers leaned on their senior forward Kayla Ford. Ford had 18 points at the halftime break as BSC held a 34-25 lead over Hendrix. 

In the second half, the Orange and Black mounted a rally to regain the lead halfway through the period. Dyslin poured in 11 straight points to cap a 25-15 run that put the Warriors ahead 50-49 with 9:11 to play.

BSC managed to regain the lead and extend the margin in the final minutes. Kriesel-Bigler cut the deficit to three points with 2:29 left but the Warriors were unable to stop the Panthers' offense in crunch time as the home team pulled away to a 75-68 victory.

Hendrix falls to 9-10 on the season with a 4-4 mark in the SAA.

Hendrix Notes
- The Warriors shot 40.0% from the floor, going 24-for-60 on the day. The squad went 35.0% from behind the arc, shooting 7-for-20 from three-point land.
- Breann Forbes grabbed nine reboundsin the game, a career and season-best mark for the freshman.
- Hendrix was held to just 11 assists on the day, tying the team's second-lowest assist total on the season. 
- The Warriors went 13-for-17 from the free throw line (76.5%), the team's best foul shooting performance of the season.

BSC Notes
- Kayla Ford's 29 points was the highest single-player scoring output by a Hendrix opponent this season.
- BSC shot 42.4% from the floor, going 27-for-64 in the contest. 
- The Panthers finished with 10 steals, registering double-digit steals for the fourth straight game.

Hendrix will return to action on Friday, Feb. 6 when they travel to Tennessee to take on Sewanee - The University of the South in another SAA battle.
